IBT College has received numerous awards for its innovative training solutions. Most recently, IBT College was honoured to win the Global PIEoneer Award for Digital Innovation in Learning for our work in creating Microcredentials that utilize Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.
“Congratulations to IBT College on being recognized internationally for creating virtual micro-credentials that use virtual reality and augmented reality to train the next generation of health care workers,” said Jill Dunlop, Minister of Colleges and Universities. “This program clearly exemplifies how Ontario’s Micro-credentials Strategy is helping learners to access the skills and training they need for the in-demand jobs of today and tomorrow.”
The PIEoneer Awards were held in London, England. The PIEoneer Awards honour innovation and achievement across the whole of the global education industry. Nominees in this category come from around the globe with this year’s finalists coming from Singapore, the UK, Korea, Germany, Ireland and Canada – represented by IBT College. With a distinguished judging panel representing geographical and professional diversity, The PIEoneer Awards recognize both individuals and organizations who are pushing professional standards, evolving their engagement or redefining the international student experience.
Minister’s Award of Excellence
IBT College’s Healthcare Team wins a Ministry of Colleges and Universities Award of Excellence – the first-time ever for a career college.
IBT College’s Healthcare team was honoured with an Innovation and Entrepreneurship award for working with the healthcare industry to drive innovation and economic development. Award winners included: IBT College’s Vice-President James Rice, Andrea Kurth, Kristen Peach, Jen Ferrier, Melanie Kowalski and Ken Rice.
The IBT College team were among 22 selected in the province for the Minister’s Awards of Excellence, out of over 500 nominations received.
The Awards of Excellence recognize the exceptional performance of faculty, staff and graduate students from colleges, universities, private career colleges and Indigenous Institutes across Ontario
Community Impact Award
IBT College was awarded a Community Impact Award as part of the Government of Ontario’s Micro-credentials Challenge Fund. Through the use of these funds IBT College developed a complex Micro-credential Project: Home Support Worker Micro-credentials Leading to a Personal Support Worker (PSW) Diploma using Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality.
As outlined in the Ontario Micro-credentials Challenge Fund Program Guidelines and Requirements (released April 2021), up to an additional $1 million may be awarded in each of four regions to applicants whose project(s) are successful, scalable, and have a significant community impact.
The primary goal of the Ontario Micro-credentials Challenge Fund is to increase the number and types of Micro-credentials available across the province that respond to regional labour market needs while increasing collaboration between the private and public sectors through formal partnerships between postsecondary institutions, training providers, and employers.
Paul Kitchin Award for Outstanding Community Involvement
IBT College is honoured to be awarded the Career Colleges Ontario Paul Kitchen Award for Community Involvement.
IBT College was chosen for our incredible contribution to the field of healthcare and innovation in post-secondary learning. IBT College developed a Virtual Healthcare program that expanded into utilizing ground-breaking Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality tools to rapidly train workers. Due to the virtual nature of the program, candidates from communities-in-need throughout Ontario can participate in training sessions, anytime and from anywhere. The award recognizes initiatives or programs that are designed to those activities that demonstrate an exceptional/unique and novel design and targeted community outreach initiatives
IBT College is now sharing their insight and knowledge with institutions across the country and the world in an effort to proliferate more efficient and expedient learning tools to students across the globe.
