Personal Hygiene Micro-Credential

This microcedential will explore the ins and outs of all kinds of oral care, whether the client has their own natural teeth, a partial denture, full dentures, or is conscious. All aspects and considerations involving oral care are explored. The learner will learn the differences between the various types of bathing and how to safely perform these skills. Partial bed bath, full bed bath, shower, and tub assistance is covered. An in depth exposure to the perineal care for both male and female bodies is provided, with the focus on infection control techniques.

The learner will be able to identify the different positions a person can be placed in while in bed and the risks/progression of pressure injuries. The learner will explore some of the various kinds of assistive devices used to prevent injury and to identify common skin conditions.

Admission Requirements:

• Government-Issued Photo ID
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
• Mature student ,18 years or older.
• IELTS 6.0 (B2) or equivalent *

Duration:  Total length of the program is 20 hours. Our experienced Nurse Educators will coach you throughout the process. 

Technical Specs: Our hybrid classes offer an online experience utilizing Augmented Reality, 3D Models, Videos and Virtual Simulation. A desktop or laptop is recommended. VR Goggles are welcomed for a full, richer experience. If you do not have VR Goggles, you can complete the tasks on a laptop or a desktop. IBT College provides technical support. 

Certificate: Upon successful completion of the program you will receive an IBT College Dementia Care Certificate. A Dementia Care Certificate is in-demand now by many employers seeking Home Support Workers and Personal Support Workers in Ontario. It is a strongly recommended to upgrade your skills in this area.
