Guaranteed Full-Time Careers for Ontario Workers
IBT College and Bayshore HealthCare Ltd. have partnered to provide an innovative training model to support the creation of more than 500 full time Community Health Workers to assist with the severe staffing shortages in the home care sector.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the healthcare systems have been put under tremendous strain. IBT College and Bayshore HealthCare are seeking successful applicants to be trained for a meaningful career in healthcare. All participants of the program will be hired by Bayshore for full time careers prior to the starting of the program. The program is available for individuals anywhere in Ontario. Joe Shokour, President of IBT College, feels that, “We will be able to train and transition hundreds of hospitality and retail workers who lost jobs during the pandemic into much-needed healthcare work. This program can also act as a bridge to becoming a Personal Support Worker (PSW) or even a nurse.”

The training is instructor-led by qualified Registered Nurses or Registered Practical Nurses. Upon completion of the virtual program, students will receive one-on-one training and supervision from a Bayshore PSW and a Bayshore Registered Nurse. In addition to guaranteed full time careers upon graduation, students are paid for their training time and eligible for a bursary to assist with tuition costs. The clinical practicum will be held at Bayshore locations throughout Ontario.
